Planning your estate or settling one shouldn't feel overwhelming. My role is to bring clarity, experience, and steady counsel — so your wishes are protected and your family is cared for.

What I Handle

Practice Areas

Four focused areas, refined over 45 years of practice in Mesa and across Maricopa County.

Wills

A clear, valid will is the foundation of every plan. I draft wills that hold up — naming guardians, directing your assets, and sparing your family confusion and conflict later.

Put it in writing

Trusts & Estates

Revocable living trusts, powers of attorney, and complete estate plans that protect your legacy, minimize court involvement, and keep your affairs private and in order.

Protect your legacy

Probate

When a loved one passes, I guide personal representatives through Arizona probate step by step — the filings, notices, creditors, and distributions — so the estate is settled correctly.

About Brent

Four decades of steady counsel.

Brent D Ellsworth has practiced law in Mesa for more than 45 years. A 1981 graduate of Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School, he has spent his career helping Arizona families and business owners plan carefully, protect what they've built, and navigate the moments that matter most.

His practice is built on a simple belief: legal counsel should be personal, transparent, and easy to understand. Clients work directly with Brent — you'll always know where things stand, what your options are, and what comes next, explained in plain language without the jargon.

Whether you're drafting your first will, setting up a trust, settling a loved one's estate, or structuring a business, the approach is the same: careful preparation, honest advice, and the steady experience that only decades of practice can bring.

Questions

Frequently asked

Almost everyone benefits from at least a basic plan. Without one, Arizona law decides who receives your property and who raises your children — often through a slower, public probate. A will, and in many cases a living trust, lets you make those decisions yourself and spare your family stress later.

It depends on how the assets were titled and whether there was a trust. Some estates avoid formal probate entirely; others require it. Bring what you have to a consultation and I'll tell you honestly what's needed and guide you through each step.

It depends on the matter — many estate-planning documents are handled on a flat fee, while probate and business work may be hourly. You'll receive a clear explanation of the fees before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
